At least 17 people hospitalized after eating bread in Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City - 17 people had to go to medical facilities in Lai Thieu ward for treatment after eating bread, local authorities temporarily suspended the related business establishment.

On September 18, the People's Committee of Lai Thieu Ward (Ho Chi Minh City) is coordinating with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety to verify and handle a bread stall that caused many people to be hospitalized.

Previously, on September 16, many people bought bread at a bread stall on Nguyen Van Tiet street, Lai Thieu ward, Ho Chi Minh City. However, after eating, some people had symptoms of abdominal pain, diarrhea, feeling fever and fatigue.

On the evening of September 16 and 17, many people went to medical facilities in Lai Thieu ward for treatment with symptoms suspected of food poisoning.

A patient said that after eating bread from the facility, he had to be hospitalized at 2 am on September 17 for treatment with diagnoses of bacterial intestinal infection. Many others also had to be hospitalized for treatment of the above symptoms.

After receiving information, the functional agency of Lai Thieu ward established an inspection team to conduct verification and handling.

According to a report by the Department of Culture and Society under the People's Committee of Lai Thieu ward, the related establishment is named Bao An Xoi - Da Nang Banh Mi (mobile sales car). This car is parked in front of a coffee shop belonging to the business household of Da Nang Si Hao banh mi kiln, headquartered in Hoc Mon commune, Ho Chi Minh City.

Through inspection, the inspection team proposed that the establishment temporarily suspend food business, processing and sales to serve the work of verifying and handling incidents.

According to a report by the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Lai Thieu ward, the inspection team has verified at least 17 cases that had to go to medical facilities for treatment after eating bread.
