wheat ice cream is rich in iron and B vitamins, but less fiber
G lathe and oatmeal ice cream are both popular breakfast options thanks to their convenience and ability to create a feeling of fullness. However, according to Dr. Stephani Johnson, a clinical nutritionist at the College of Medicine, Rutgers University (USA): "Grais is often supplemented with iron and B vitamins such as niacin, thiamine, riboflavin and folate, which support energy metabolism, nourish healthy skin, hair and nervous system".
On the contrary, oats are often not supplemented with synthetic micronutrients, but naturally contain manganese, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, iron and folic acid, which are essential nutrients for the body. More importantly, oats have a higher fiber content, especially steel-cut oats. Fid-rich foods help stabilize blood sugar, aid digestion and maintain a feeling of fullness for longer, Johnson emphasized.
However, for people with digestive problems or need to limit fiber, wheat ice cream is a more suitable choice. Because of its low fiber content, wheat ice cream is easier to digest, but also has a higher glycemic index, which can cause blood sugar to spike rapidly after meals, says Johnson.
Oatmeal is more friendly to people with gluten sensitivity
According to nutritionist Antonette Hardie, Wexner Medical Center, Ohio State University (USA): "Natureal oats are gluten-free, while wheat ice cream is". Therefore, people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity should avoid using wheat ice cream. However, she also noted that oats should be labeled gluten-free to ensure they are not cross-contaminated during processing.
In terms of energy, a serving of dry wheat ice cream (3 tablespoons) contains about 120 kcal, 3g protein and 1g fiber, while half a cup of dry oatmeal provides about 150 kcal, 5g protein and 4g fiber. If cooked with milk instead of water, both are supplemented with protein, calcium and beneficial fats.
Hardie recommends: The important thing is not just which grain to choose, but how you prepare it. Adding sugar, butter or ice cream can make a heavy breakfast excess in calories and fat.
In short, there is no better grain than absolutely. Oatmeal is suitable for people who want to control blood sugar and cholesterol, while wheat ice cream is suitable for people who need to have a belly snack. The ideal choice depends on each person's health goals and taste.
