On March 19, news from the Office of the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province said that there is a plan to deploy tuberculosis prevention and control activities in the period 2026 - 2030 in the area.
The plan with many specific targets aims to reduce the incidence and mortality rate, towards sustainable control of this dangerous infectious disease.
According to the plan, by 2030, the province strives to reduce the TB incidence rate to ≤ 85/100,000 people; ensuring a successful treatment rate of 90% or more.
At the same time, the mortality rate from tuberculosis is controlled at ≤ 5/100,000 people; the rate of patients abandoning treatment is below 3%; especially controlling the rate of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis below 5% in the total number of newly detected tuberculosis patients.
To achieve the above goals, Khanh Hoa has set out many groups of key tasks and solutions.
In which, focus on strengthening the implementation of policies and laws on tuberculosis prevention and control; promoting information, education, and communication to raise community awareness.
Along with that, the health sector will improve professional and technical capacity in detecting, diagnosing and treating diseases; expand tuberculosis screening activities in the community, especially for high-risk groups; deploy treatment for latent tuberculosis to limit the risk of disease onset.
The province also orients to promote the application of information technology and artificial intelligence in screening, diagnosing and managing tuberculosis treatment.
Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Health as the standing agency to preside over the implementation of the plan; and at the same time coordinate with departments, branches, and localities to organize implementation, supervise and evaluate results.
Many people in Khanh Hoa expressed their agreement and expectation for the province's TB prevention and control plan for the period 2026 - 2030, believing that this is a necessary step to protect public health in the context that infectious diseases still pose many risks.
