On April 15, the Department of Health of Kon Tum Province said that the attached units were required to urgently implement measures to prevent and combat food poisoning after recognizing 4 cases of suspected Clostridium Botulinum infection in Kon Plong district.
According to the infectious disease monitoring system, suspected cases related to toxic foods of Clostridium Botulinum bacteria - a very toxic bacteria that can be fatal if not detected and treated promptly.
Facing the above situation, the Department of Health has requested the Food Safety and Population Department, the provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC) in collaboration with Kon Plong District Medical Center to conduct surveys, sampling, identifying sources of infection and cause of disease.
The provincial CDC is assigned a quick response team (RRT) to the scene to investigate relevant factors, promote communication, guide people to perform personal hygiene and environmental sanitation to limit the risk of outbreaks.
Kon Tum General Hospital is also instructed to actively contact the central hospitals to coordinate the treatment of serious cases.
The Department of Health asked the Kon Plong District People's Committee to direct the authorities to strengthen food safety inspection and supervision at households, business establishments and food supply.
Suspected foods contain toxins - especially fermented, smoked, closed foods - need to be recovered and removed immediately.
People are recommended to eat cooked and cooked; do not use food of unknown origin; Priority is given to the use of newly processed foods, cooked thoroughly and absolutely avoid foods with abnormal signs of color, taste or packaging closed but unknown expiry date.
