On April 9, Mr. Doan Tan Buu, Director of the Department of Health of Dong Thap province, informed that according to the report as of 9:00 a.m. on April 8, the total number of cases admitted to the hospital suspected of poisoning was 29/33 cases, 22 cases were discharged, 7 cases are continuing to be treated, 4 cases have mild signs of self-monitoring at home.

Also after 8:30 p.m. on April 6, no more hospitalizations were recorded for the above cases. Other hospitals in Cao Lanh city have not recorded any related hospitalizations.
Regarding the next handling direction, Dong Thap Department of Health informed that it will continue to coordinate with other sectors to verify and clarify the cause of the incident; closely monitor the patient's progress for timely treatment; monitor test results to assess the cause and handle according to the provisions of law.

As Lao Dong reported, on April 6, about 3,500 people including students and teachers attending the STEM Festival (organized at Dong Thap University) had lunch with the following dishes: white rice, pork soup with grated pork fat, duck eggs, fried chicken salted lemongrass, provided by T.R facility (Ward 1, Cao Lanh city) and bottled water. The organizers also serve drinks including canned fresh milk and free milk tea.
At 1:30 p.m. the same day, some event participants began to have symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea... By 4 p.m., a total of 33 people had symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea... All were transferred to Dong Thap General Hospital for health monitoring.
By 8:30 p.m., 4 people were allowed to return home and 29 people were hospitalized for treatment.
