On March 19, information from the Department of Health of Kon Tum province said that the measles epidemic is complicated, with high and prolonged cases in many districts and cities in the area.
According to the infectious disease monitoring system, Kon Tum province has recorded 665 cases of suspected measles rash fever in 10 districts and cities.
Of these, 61 cases have been confirmed positive for measles virus and 599 cases have to be hospitalized for treatment. Most of the cases of the disease are children aged 0-10 years.
In the face of the above situation, the Department of Health recommends that the People's Committees of districts and cities urgently strengthen measles vaccination, ensuring enough human resources, funding, necessary materials and equipment.
The goal is to complete vaccination before March 31, 2025. It is necessary to carefully review vaccination subjects, not to miss them, especially in areas at risk of outbreaks.
Kon Tum Health Sector implements the motto "go to every alley, knock on every door, check every subject" to ensure that all children of all ages are fully vaccinated and on schedule. Especially in remote areas, border areas and ethnic minority areas, helping people raise awareness of measles prevention and control.
