A hospital in Ca Mau meets international standards for testing quality

Ca Mau - Laboratory Department of Thanh Vu Medic Bac Lieu General Hospital was certified ISO 15189:2022.

On the afternoon of June 30, Thanh Vu Medic Bac Lieu General Hospital, (Ca Mau province) held a ceremony to receive ISO 15189:2022 certification - an international standard for the quality of medical laboratory in the field of biochemistry and hematology.

The achievement of ISO 15189:2022 certification marks a step forward in improving the quality of hospital testing, while creating conditions for people in the Mekong Delta region to access testing services managed according to international standards right in their localities.

Speaking at the ceremony, a representative of the Ca Mau Provincial Department of Health assessed that the Laboratory Department's achievement of ISO 15189:2022 certification affirms the hospital's professional capacity and quality development orientation, contributing to improving the quality of medical services, ensuring patient safety and increasing the reliability of test results.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Vinh - Head of Biochemical Department, Cho Ray Hospital, Deputy Director of the Center for Medical Laboratory Quality Accreditation, ISO 15189:2022 is a specialized international standard for medical laboratories, ensuring accuracy, reliability and traceability of test results. The application of this standard also creates a foundation for medical facilities to interconnect and recognize test results, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment.

MSc.BS Dang Ngoc The - Director of Thanh Vu Medic Bac Lieu General Hospital - said that in modern medicine, more than 70% of doctors' clinical decisions are related to test results. Therefore, achieving ISO 15189:2022 certification is not only a recognition of professional competence but also demonstrates the capacity to manage quality, control risks and ensure the accuracy of the entire testing system.

Along with achieving ISO 15189:2022 certification, Thanh Vu Medic Bac Lieu General Hospital previously achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification for the Kidney and Blood Transfusion Center, was awarded the ESO/WSO Angels Awards Gold Award in stroke treatment and is implementing quality management standards according to ACHSI's orientation.
