On May 30, the Ca Mau Department of Health organized a launching ceremony for the 3rd phase of health check-ups and screening for people in the province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh - Director of Ca Mau Department of Health - said that health is the most precious asset of each citizen and is an important foundation for sustainable socio-economic development. Faced with the increasingly complex developments of epidemics and risk factors affecting community health, periodic health check-ups and screening to detect and treat diseases early are urgent requirements.

According to Mr. Thanh, this campaign aims to raise people's awareness of health care, gradually shifting from disease-curing thinking to proactive disease prevention. This is also a solution to achieve the goal of 100% of Ca Mau people being health checked, screened and having electronic health records, integrated on the VNeID application in 2026.
At Bac Lieu Ward Health Station, immediately after the launching ceremony, a large number of people came for health check-ups. Doctors and nurses conducted general check-ups, consultations and guided people to monitor their health periodically.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quang (73 years old), a motorbike taxi driver, said that he rarely has the conditions to go for a health check-up. After being checked, his health indicators were stable, so he was very excited.
The program is very meaningful, helping people to have regular health check-ups, detect diseases early and feel more secure in life," Mr. Quang shared.

Ms. Nguyen Diem Quynh (71 years old, residing in Tra Kha hamlet) said that she was examined, consulted and given free medicine, so she was very reassured. According to Ms. Quynh, the team of doctors and nurses worked wholeheartedly and thoughtfully, helping the elderly reduce their worries about illness.
According to the Ca Mau Department of Health, the 3rd launch was organized simultaneously in 64 communes and wards in the province. Among them, there are 5 direct launch points in U Minh commune, Dam Doi commune, Dat Mui commune, Song Doc commune and Bac Lieu ward with the participation of leaders of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee.

The highlight of this examination is the participation of professional forces from Le Van Thinh Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City), lecturers and students of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, along with public and private medical staff and students of medical colleges in the area.

In particular, based on the health check-up results in previous phases, Le Van Thinh Hospital will coordinate to provide free eye examination and surgery for more than 150 people in difficult circumstances suffering from eye diseases.
Previously, phase 1, implemented from April 15, had health check-ups for 277,788 students aged 6 to 15 in the province. Phase 2, organized from May 15, recorded more than 34,381 people being screened.

To date, the whole province has had more than 312,000 people examined and screened, reaching over 14.5% of the population. Through this, the health sector has advised on appropriate treatment directions for many cases, and at the same time discovered many patients with eye diseases who need surgery support.
In parallel with medical examination and treatment activities, Ca Mau health sector is promoting electronic health book updates, digital transformation applications and strengthening communication to raise awareness of periodic health check-ups in the community. These solutions are expected to contribute to reducing the burden of disease, improving the quality of life and building a healthy and sustainable community.
