On October 6, Specialist Doctor II Huynh Minh Phu - Director of Can Tho City Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital - said that the Hospital is implementing a free blood group testing program for 1,000 people in the community and will last until December 31, 2025. According to the assessment, since its implementation, the Program has received the attention and support of many people.
The program cost is mobilized by the hospital's Board of Directors for socialization, with the cost of each blood type test being about 60,000 - 70,000 VND/person.
At the hospital, in addition to testing to know the exact blood type, people are also consulted by doctors on general health and given blood type lockers.
Blood type testing helps ensure blood transfusion safety in emergency cases and surgical procedures; support relatives and the community when receiving blood transfusion. Knowing blood type also helps you to take the initiative to take care of your health and learn about the risk of certain diseases.
Through this meaningful Program, the Hospital also calls on healthy people in the community with a charitable heart to participate in donating blood to save lives.
Currently, the blood supply at the Blood Bank of Can Tho Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital is decreasing, meeting the insufficient blood needs of patients being treated in about 80 hospitals and medical units in the region.
