The Hanoi Center for Gender Medicine and the Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital have just received a case of a 21-year-old man whose foreskin frenulum was torn due to improper masturbation.
Through medical history, it was found that: The young man did not have a girlfriend, and masturbated 3 times a week. Previously, the patient only masturbated by hand, then he tended to find ways to increase pleasure when masturbating. The patient tried to make a masturbation device from a water pipe. While masturbating, the edge of the water pipe cut into the frenulum, causing a lot of bleeding.
The young man panicked and wrapped a towel around himself, but the bleeding continued. Unable to stop the bleeding, the patient rushed to the hospital for emergency care.
The doctors determined that the cut was quite deep, so they quickly stopped the bleeding and disinfected the patient. After completing the necessary tests and procedures, the doctors proceeded to re-stitch the frenulum to restore the damage, preserve the physiological function of the penis, and avoid fibrosis, shortening of the frenulum and recurrence of the cut.
After surgery, the patient's condition was stable and he was treated as an outpatient and continued to be monitored at home.
During the treatment and consultation process, doctors at the Hanoi Center for Gender Medicine instructed patients on how to masturbate properly, with a moderate frequency of 2-3 times/week.
"After treatment, the patient returned for a follow-up examination and the results showed that the old wound had healed well, leaving no sequelae, and importantly, the patient knew how to adjust his psychology and emotions," added Dr. Pham Minh Ngoc, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Center for Gender Medicine.
According to Dr. Ngoc, in men, there are some cases of penile fracture due to improper masturbation. Symptoms of penile fracture include swelling and bruising of the entire penis, the shaft of the penis is not straight, the level of swelling and bruising can increase gradually if large blood vessels are damaged.
In addition, using supporting tools incorrectly such as inserting a wire into the urethra or placing too large a tool, animals, or fruits into the rectum can cause tearing or rupture of the urethra, rectal tearing, or foreign objects in the digestive tract.
Depending on the severity, there are different treatment directions, but in general, these cases require a combination of urology and gastroenterology, and after surgery there is still a risk of leaving sequelae later.
