On March 24, the Lam Dong Department of Health said that it had ended monitoring cases of close contact with meningococcal meningitis cases, and had not recorded any new cases.
Previously, the Provincial Center for Disease Control recorded a case of the disease (born in 2012, residing in Dong Da village, Nam Ban Lam Ha commune, Lam Dong).
The patient was treated at Children's Hospital 2 and was discharged on March 13, 2026, currently in stable health, and has returned to school.
Immediately after recording the case, the provincial health sector coordinated with relevant units to implement epidemic prevention and control measures.
Monitoring results until mid-March 2026 showed that cases of close contact in the community and medical facilities were stable, and no signs of suspected illness were recorded.
However, the health sector believes that meningococcal meningitis still has a potential risk of rapid spread, especially in crowded environments.
Units continue to strengthen supervision, promote communication and fully prepare medicines, supplies, and equipment to be ready to respond.
The Department of Health recommends that people monitor their health; when they have symptoms such as fever, headache, nausea, stiff neck, light sensitivity or abnormal rash, they need to go to a medical facility for examination and timely treatment.
To prevent the disease, people need to wash their hands regularly with soap, rinse their mouths with antiseptic solutions; cover their mouths and noses when coughing or sneezing; keep their living, studying, and working places ventilated, and clean contact surfaces daily.
In addition, it is necessary to eat and drink adequately, increase exercise, keep the body warm; proactively get vaccinated to reduce the risk of disease and severe complications.
