Coming to the hospital for examination when experiencing uncomfortable itching and burning in the intimate area, Ms. T.H in Hanoi was surprised when she was diagnosed with a gynecological infection. She said that just a few days after a sea trip with her family, uncomfortable symptoms began to appear and became increasingly serious.
In another case, L.K, a dance teacher in Ha Dong ward, Hanoi, also had to see a doctor after a long time enduring itching and discomfort in her private area. According to her, this condition often recurs in the summer due to the nature of her work, having to wear tight pants in hot weather conditions. Although she tried many remedies at home but it was not effective, she was forced to go to a medical facility for examination.

According to BSCKI Dang Van Ha, Center for Reproductive Support, An Viet General Hospital, summer is the time when gynecological inflammatory diseases increase in women. High temperatures and strongly increased humidity create a favorable environment for bacteria, yeast and pathogens to develop.
Dr. Ha said that there are many reasons why the risk of gynecological infections increases in the summer. First of all, hot and humid weather causes the body to sweat a lot, and the intimate area is often wet and stuffy. This is an ideal condition for fungi and bacteria to multiply.
In addition, the habit of wearing tight-fitting clothes, especially clothes with non-sugar-absorbing materials or too tight underwear, also increases the risk of infection because the intimate area is not ventilated.
Another reason is the abuse of feminine hygiene solutions or deep vaginal douches. Many women believe that the more they clean, the cleaner they become, but this can imbalance the natural microbiome, creating conditions for harmful bacteria to develop.
Swimming and swimming in the summer also pose a risk of gynecological infections. Bacteria from swimming pools or unsanitary water sources can enter the private area and cause disease.
In addition, common habits in hot weather such as showering many times but not drying the intimate area thoroughly, wearing damp clothes after swimming or playing sports, sitting for a long time in a hot, stuffy environment or consuming a lot of sweets and sugary drinks also contribute to imbalance the vaginal environment and promote the development of fungi and bacteria.
According to Specialist Doctor Dang Van Ha, women with gynecological infections often experience signs such as itching, vaginal burning, discomfort when exercising or having sex. Vaginal discharge may change in color such as cloudy white, yellow or green, accompanied by an unusual odor or fishy smell. Some cases also experience lower abdominal pain, pain during intercourse, painful urination, frequent urination or burning sensation when urinating.
Experts warn that gynecological infections, if not detected and treated properly, can lead to many complications affecting reproductive health. Therefore, when abnormal signs appear, women need to proactively go to medical facilities for examination and timely treatment.
To prevent gynecological infections in the summer, BSCKI Dang Van Ha recommends that women need to properly clean the intimate area with gentle products, not deep douches. After showering or going to the toilet, it is necessary to dry with a clean towel and perform proper hygiene to limit bacteria from the anus from entering the vagina.
In addition, you should choose loose, breathable clothing, prioritize cotton material with good sweat-absorbing ability; avoid wearing tight pants or damp clothes for a long time. After swimming or swimming in the sea, you need to shower again with clean water, dry your body and change clothes immediately. At the same time, limit soaking for too long in public swimming pools or unhygienic water sources.
Doctors also emphasize the importance of regular gynecological examinations and not being subjective to any abnormal signs to protect reproductive health and improve quality of life.
