Many people experienced abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, and fever after eating bread at a business household in Gia Lai. The Ministry of Health intervened.

The Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) has just requested the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health to urgently investigate and handle the suspected food poisoning case after many people ate bread at a business household in An Khe ward.

According to the Food Safety Department, this unit has received a report from the Gia Lai Provincial Sub-Department of Food Safety and Hygiene on a suspected food poisoning case after using bread at Bin Bin business household, address 1041 Quang Trung, An Khe ward, Gia Lai province.

According to reports, after eating bread at the above establishment, many people developed symptoms suspected of food poisoning such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, frequent vomiting and fever.

People with symptoms were taken to An Khe Medical Center for examination and treatment.

Before the developments of the incident, the Food Safety Department requested the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health to urgently direct functional units to implement necessary measures to minimize the impact on people's health.

In which, medical examination and treatment facilities with patients being treated are required to focus resources, actively treat, and ensure that the incident does not affect the health and lives of patients.

The Food Safety Department also requested the local health sector to notify the community in the area where the incident occurred. People who have eaten bread at related establishments, if symptoms of suspected food poisoning appear, should quickly notify the nearest commune or ward health station for timely support.

Notably, the Food Safety Department requested the Gia Lai Department of Health to direct specialized units to urgently organize epidemiological investigations and trace the origin of food to determine the cause and suspected agents causing poisoning.

The investigation and handling of organizations and individuals violating food safety regulations, if any, must be strictly implemented in accordance with legal regulations. The results of investigation and handling are also required to be made public to promptly warn and prevent risks to the community.

In addition to handling specific cases, the Food Safety Department requests localities to develop training plans and disseminate knowledge about ensuring food safety in street food business.

Propaganda activities need to be carried out in many forms, targeting food safety management officials and business owners. Food service business establishments and collective kitchens are required to ensure full food safety conditions and strictly control the origin of raw materials.

At the same time, establishments must ensure hygiene throughout the preliminary processing, processing and transportation of food; implement three-step inspection and store food samples according to regulations.

The Food Safety Department requested the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health to report the investigation results of the suspected food poisoning case to the Department as prescribed. Currently, functional agencies are continuing to investigate to clarify the cause, related food sources and possible factors leading to the incident.
