Here are some tips from physiotherapist Dr. Swathi Reddy on feeding mango and jackfruit to babies.
Things to know about mango for babies
Mangoes are a good source of natural sugars and carbohydrates, which help provide energy for children. Vitamins A and C in mangoes provide nutrients.
Babies can eat mangoes when they are around 8 to 10 months old. Since this is a soft and smooth fruit, it can be given to babies in pureed form and should not be given too much mango.
Mango allergies are rare, but babies can occasionally develop skin rashes. Mangoes high in fiber should be avoided as they can irritate the baby's digestive tract and cause indigestion and diarrhea.
Things to know about jackfruit for babies
Jackfruit contains many nutrients that are good for children's health. You can feed your child jackfruit when he is 9 to 10 months old. You must cut the jackfruit into pieces to avoid choking.
Jackfruit can cause allergies to pollen or latex in infants. If your infant has a blood problem, you should avoid eating jackfruit because it can cause blood clots. Eating too much jackfruit can cause stomach upset and diarrhea.
