Both familiar drinks in the fall contain antioxidants, but there are major differences in nutritional content, calories and risk of contamination.

The difference between calories and nutrients

According to Dr. Sohaib Imtiaz, a nutritionist at the British Global Health Institute, pumpkin juice and apple juice are both symbols of autumn but not completely the same in terms of health benefits.

A 237ml glass of apple juice contains about 114 calories, while pumpkin latte can get up to 149 calories from added milk and sugar. Many people think pumpkin juice is less sweet than apples, but calories and sugar depend heavily on the added ingredients such as ice cream or syrup, Dr. Imtiaz analyzed.

Pumpkin contains vitamin A, calcium and antioxidants that help protect the eyes and skin, while apples are rich in potassium, magnesium and polyphenols, compounds that can help reduce inflammation and improve heart health. A study by the Johns Hopkins Nutrition Center (USA) shows that un City-fried fresh apple juice retains more plant compounds than apple juice in pre-packaged bottles.

However, jujube water is also prone to spoilage if not pasteurized or properly refrigerated. Meanwhile, pre-made pumpkin drinks often contain artificial flavors, colorings and preservatives. Therefore, experts recommend that consumers should read the nutrition label carefully and choose products with low sugar and no synthetic flavors.

Consider when choosing an autumn drink

Both types have their own strengths. Pumpkin spices such as cinnamon, ginger and cloves help increase resistance and reduce inflammation, while natural apple juice helps purify the body, stabilize blood pressure and reduce the risk of blood clots.

Dr Imtiaz emphasizes: If you want to supplement vitamins and minerals, choose fresh apple juice. If you need more energy and a warm feeling, a cup of homemade pumpkin drink made with plant milk and less sugar is a reasonable choice".

The most important thing is to limit industrial drinks, especially those that contain a lot of sugar or artificial sweeteners. In addition, you should store apples and pumpkin products in the refrigerator and eat them for a few days to avoid infection.

Whether you choose apple juice or pumpkin juice, enjoy it while alert. A glass of homemade, low-sugar, and un age-restricted drinks not only brings a full autumn flavor but also helps the body become healthier every day.
