On January 2, Quang Tri Provincial General Hospital said that Mr. N.H (76 years old, residing in Nam Dong Ha ward) was admitted to the hospital in a state of swelling and pain in the left cheek area, unbalanced face, runny nose, full cheeks, rough upper jaw and reduced left eye vision, and frequent tears.
Through medical history exploitation, it was determined that the patient had a long-term maxillary sinus mucus but subjectively did not treat it because the symptoms progressed silently and caused less pain.
The results of diagnostic imaging and inter-sectional consultation showed that the left mandibular mucosal tumor was large in size, causing erosion of the mandibular bone walls and encroaching on the floor of the eye socket. Doctors assessed that if it continues to be delayed, the patient is at risk of severe vision damage, facial deformities, and even facing the risk of widespread infection.
Faced with the above situation, the professional team performed microscopic endoscopy surgery. During the surgery, the doctor recorded that the mandibular sinus contained a lot of persistent cloudy mucus. The tumor was completely removed, the sinus opening was widened, fluid was aspirated and sinus drainage was effective.
3 days after surgery, the patient's cheek pain subsided, her face gradually returned to balance, her eyesight improved significantly and no complications were recorded.
Doctors recommend that many chronic ear-nasal-throat diseases can progress silently, causing less pain but still potentially seriously affecting health. People should not be subjective, and need to be examined and treated early when abnormal signs appear in the face, nose, and sinuses to avoid unfortunate complications.
