On November 17, Quang Tri General Hospital said that it had saved the life of baby T.N.G.P. (19 months old, Trieu Binh commune, Quang Tri province) in a state of cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest due to drowning.
Previously, at around 3:00 p.m. on November 4, P. was playing near her house when she fell into a canal. After 5-7 minutes, the family discovered that the child had turned purple and stopped breathing.
At this time, Ms. Le Thi Ha - a nurse of the Department of Pediatrics, Quang Tri General Hospital, who was on leave at a nearby house, was called in by relatives for support.
"When I arrived, my child had stopped breathing. Her parents cried, everyone thought she would not survive" - Ms. Ha recalled.
Ms. Ha and a resident performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the spot. After about 10 minutes, the baby's skin turned pink again and was taken to Trieu Hai Regional General Hospital and continued treatment at the Department of Pediatrics - Quang Tri General Hospital.
After 11 days of active resuscitation, the child was alert, sociable and discharged from the hospital on November 15.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Hoa - P.'s father said that the family sent their thanks to the medical team and especially nurse Le Thi Ha. "Thanks to Ms. Ha's timely emergency care, my child had the opportunity to revive. My family is very grateful to you" - Mr. Hoa said.
