On the afternoon of January 19, regarding the reflection on the case of a pregnant woman giving birth in a taxi during the hospital transfer that occurred at the Chau Duc Regional Health Center, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that it has urgently requested the center to report and clarify the entire process of receiving, consulting, specialized appointment and hospital transfer plan.
At the same time, clearly define the responsibilities of relevant collectives and individuals to strictly handle according to regulations if violations are detected.
According to a quick report from the Chau Duc Regional Health Center, at 4:55 PM on January 17, 2026, the pregnant woman was received and examined at the Obstetrics Department. Initial assessment showed that the pregnant woman was in the labor stage and had a risk factor. Medical staff advised her to transfer to a higher-level medical facility to continue monitoring and handling; at the same time, proactively developed a plan to transfer her to the hospital by ambulance, with medical staff accompanying her according to regulations.
However, during the time the medical facility prepared the necessary procedures for the transfer, the family proactively took the pregnant woman out of the center by taxi according to personal wishes, not implementing the safe transfer plan proposed by the unit.
On the way, the pregnant woman gave birth in a taxi and was then taken to Long Khanh Hospital for continued medical care. Currently, the health of both the pregnant woman and the newborn baby has been recorded as stable.
To ensure objective and comprehensive verification, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health requests the Chau Duc Regional Health Center to urgently report in detail according to the timeline; provide complete and truthful relevant documents; organize self-criticism meetings, evaluate the entire process from receiving, appointing specialists, consulting, communicating with patients and relatives to transfer plans. In case of necessity, the center director may invite an independent obstetrician to participate in professional assessment.
Based on the review results, the Chau Duc Regional Health Center must clarify the responsibilities of collectives and individuals involved and propose forms of handling in accordance with regulations if violations are detected, ensuring the principle of not covering up, not evading responsibility.
At the same time, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health requested the Director of Chau Duc Regional Health Center to urgently review and rectify the process of receiving and transferring pregnant women, especially in situations with high risk and rapid progress.
It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.
