Strengthening inter-sectoral inspection and supervision
Lunar New Year is a time when food consumption demand increases, posing many risks of food insecurity, especially in large cities like Ho Chi Minh City.
In order to ensure food safety to serve people to celebrate the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year and participate in the 2026 Spring Festival safely, protect community health, and at the same time, create a healthy food production and business environment, the inter-sectoral Steering Committee for Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City has implemented a plan to ensure food safety throughout the city.
According to Ms. Pham Khanh Phong Lan - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety, the general goal of this peak period is to ensure food safety in production, processing, business and use of food.
At the same time, strengthen control, promptly prevent the production and trading of fake and poor quality food; ensure food circulation in the market is safe; prevent and minimize the risk of food poisoning during the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year and the 2026 spring festival season.
The peak period lasts until the end of March 20th throughout Ho Chi Minh City. Regarding inspection activities, establish inter-sectoral inspection teams from the city level to wards, communes, and special zones.
Proactively prevent and respond to food poisoning
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety has the task of information, education, communication, training, and updating food safety knowledge, and legal regulations on ensuring food safety. At the same time, promote information and propaganda about the risk of food poisoning and food poisoning prevention, especially at tourist spots, tourist areas, collective kitchens of schools, industrial parks, export processing zones, and street food.
Establish inter-sectoral inspection teams to organize food safety inspection and supervision at agricultural and food wholesale markets, food production and business establishments, and food service establishments during the Lunar New Year and spring festivals of 2026.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health is responsible for coordinating propaganda on risks and measures to prevent food poisoning. At the same time, directing affiliated medical facilities to prepare vehicles and personnel to promptly rescue and treat food poisoning cases, ensuring the best health and lives of people when incidents occur.
