On the morning of October 7, the Head of the Food Safety and Hygiene Department - Quang Tri Department of Health said that the Pasteur Institute Nha Trang had returned the results: among the 4 tested food samples, there was 1 food sample that tested positive for Bacillus cereus, a common bacteria in soil, dust, water and food, which can cause vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain, especially when food is cooked for a long time. This bacteria often causes poisoning if the food is cooked and left for a long time.
The Department will notify the results to the People's Committee of Kim Ngan Commune as a basis for handling according to its authority.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, on September 26, after breakfast at Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (Kim Ngan Commune), 40 students suspected of being poisoned had to be hospitalized for treatment, and their health has now stabilized.
The incident is also controversial because a clip recorded the Vice Principal being accused of preventing students from going to the hospital despite medical staff's request for urgent transfer. Currently, the Commune People's Committee is verifying the content of the clip.
