Following the order of the Ministry of National Defense, the 18th Corps mobilized an EC-225 VN-8622 helicopter and the air emergency team of Military Hospital 175 to fly to Truong Sa special area for emergency care.
Despite the rain caused by the storm, strong winds and limited visibility, the flight crew mobilized and landed on the islands to receive 3 patients.
Lieutenant Nguyen Van Sang - doctor of the Department of Intensive Care and Anti-Poison, Military Hospital 175 - said: "On a flight, we have to receive three patients consecutively on 3 different islands, the intensity of work is huge and the pressure is extremely high. In particular, in the case of patients with meningitis on Tien Nu island, which is very severe, any change in pressure in the flight compartment can increase intracranial pressure, endangering their lives. We are forced to discuss carefully with the flight crew, agreeing to fly at the lowest possible altitude to ensure the safety of patients, even if the flight is longer. Every minute in the air is stressful. But in the end, all three patients were brought back to the mainland safely. That is the most important thing.
All 3 patients are receiving intensive treatment.
