According to the report of Moc Chau Ward Health Station, at about 11:30 am on March 4, at the swidden shack of Mr. Vi Van Khuyen's family (born 1987) in Chieng Pan village, Moc Chau ward, 10 people organized lunch.
At about 4:30 pm on the same day, V.T. N (born 2012) showed symptoms of nausea, convulsions and fainting. A few minutes later, Ms. H.T. L (born 1985) and Ms. V.T. M (born 2005) also showed similar symptoms.
The victims were taken to Moc Chau Regional General Hospital for emergency treatment. Ms. L was admitted to the hospital in a coma; baby N then had convulsions, stopped breathing and had to have endotracheal intubation; Ms. M had convulsions and fell into a coma.
After initial treatment, all 3 patients were transferred to Bach Mai Hospital for further treatment.
On the evening of March 6, quick information to PV, Mr. Vi Van Khuyen (family member of the patients) said that currently the health of all 3 people is still very serious and there has been no clear progress, the patients were prescribed blood filtration by doctors.


In another development, on March 5, the Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) issued an official letter requesting the Son La Provincial Department of Health to direct relevant units to coordinate with the hospital where the patient is being treated to focus on treatment.
At the same time, urgently investigate, test and trace the origin of food suspected of causing poisoning.
According to Mr. Tran Minh Khanh - Head of Moc Chau Ward Health Station, immediately after the incident occurred, functional forces took 5 food samples from the meal to send for testing, including: roasted longan kissing bugs, boiled bitter bamboo shoots, grilled perch, raw vegetables (laksa) and coffee-flavored energy drink.
