Recently, in Dak Lak province, there was an incident where two brothers in Ea Knuec commune (Krong Pac district) were poisoned after eating toad meat.
The incident happened at around 10:30 a.m. on November 19. At that time, the parents were away, and only the two brothers, aged 11 and 5, were home. The older brother then butchered the toad and cooked it for the two brothers to eat.
After that, both brothers were poisoned and taken to the Central Highlands General Hospital for emergency treatment. By evening, the older brother had passed away, but the younger brother was fortunately saved.
According to family members, the older brother ate the toad eggs; the younger sister ate the thigh meat. It is worth noting that this is not the first case of poisoning from eating toad meat.
Previously, Dak Lak province also recorded many cases of poisoning due to eating toad meat. Because for many people, toad meat is a food to improve nutrition in meals.
However, according to medical experts, toads are animals that contain dangerous toxins that can cause poisoning and even death.
Doctor Hoang Ngoc Anh Tuan, Head of the Department of Pediatric and Neonatal Resuscitation and Emergency, Tay Nguyen General Hospital recommends using only products made from toad meat certified by the Ministry of Health to ensure that toxins do not contaminate the meat.
When preparing toad meat for eating, you should choose gray toads, peel off the skin and remove all the internal organs of the toad, taking only the meat. Avoid getting resin on the toad meat, avoid breaking toad eggs and mixing toad eggs in the meat to avoid poisoning.
