On January 22, the Golden Heart Social Fund in collaboration with the Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation and other benefactors organized a Tet gift giving ceremony for poor patients being treated at Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital, Dermatology Hospital, and Khanh Hoa Psychiatric Hospital.
Mr. Phan Thanh Liem - Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation shared: "Contribute to Tet to help poor patients" is a program organized annually by the Golden Heart Social Fund in coordination with Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation with the desire to share with patients during the days before Tet.
This is the 24th year the program has been organized with the support and contribution of businesses, donors and readers, giving 500 gifts with a total value of 180 million VND to disadvantaged patients.
At Khanh Hoa General Hospital, the program presented 250 gifts including bird's nest, cakes, candies, milk, etc. Of which, 100 were given to patients in the Artificial Kidney Unit, Intensive Care - Anti-Poison Department. Here, each shift has 50 patients undergoing regular hemodialysis.
Ms. Nguyen Thi M., a resident of Phuoc Dong Commune, Nha Trang City for 12 years, has been taking a motorbike taxi to the hospital for dialysis three times a week. Each trip costs 100,000 VND, so all the patients here are struggling because the disease not only drains their health but also their finances. “Tet is coming soon, but for me, I only have days to go for dialysis and days off, so this gift is a great encouragement. Seeing the gift means Tet is here,” Ms. M. shared.
Doctor Dang Duy Thanh - Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa General Hospital, said: Up to today, December 23, there are still 1,300 patients being treated at the hospital. In recent years, the program "Contribute Tet to poor patients" has become familiar to the hospital at the end of the year.
Meaningful Tet gifts were given to patients in difficult circumstances who had to stay in the hospital. And not only were they warm spring gifts sent to the patients, but they were also great spiritual support from the hearts, along with the hospital's doctors and nurses to ease the pain, actively treat the patients so they can recover soon and return home to celebrate Tet with their families.
For 100 leprosy patients being treated at Khanh Hoa Province Dermatology Hospital, every time Tet comes, Spring comes, they are always busy and eager to return to their homeland.
There are nearly 40 patients staying at the hospital, many of whom do not have family or relatives. The hospital is not only a place for treatment but also a common “home” for them to welcome the new spring together.
The program's 100 gifts were given directly to patients by the donors, both to contribute to Tet with them and to encourage each patient to welcome the Lunar New Year of the Snake more joyfully.
The program also presented 140 gifts to patients being treated at Khanh Hoa Psychiatric Hospital. Doctor Nguyen Anh Chuong - Deputy Director of the Hospital informed that up to now, the hospital is still treating 140 cases.
Most of the patients who stay during the days before Tet have difficult family circumstances. The hospital hopes that their relatives will take them home for Tet, but every year there are still 120-130 cases staying at the hospital. "The gifts given to patients today will be divided by the hospital over the 9 days off for each patient, so that everyone can celebrate Tet together warmly at the hospital."
The program also gave 10 gifts to patients with serious illnesses in Nha Trang City. Among them, member Nguyen Thi Thuy has end-stage renal failure and is currently living in a rented house.
Ms. Thuy's situation is very difficult, she is seriously ill, her husband drives a motorbike taxi to take care of his wife and their mentally retarded child. The program gave her a Tet gift and 1 million VND to support her and her family to celebrate the Lunar New Year of At Ty with many hopes for a better new year.
After 1 month of campaigning, the program "Contribute Tet to help poor patients in Spring 2025" received support and companionship from the following units: Khanh Viet Corporation (150 gifts), Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest State-owned Company Limited (300 packs of bird's nest drinks), Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding Company Limited's Trade Union (10 million VND), D&T Import-Export Production and Trading Company Limited (900 jars of bird's nest), Geumsan Nha Trang Ginseng Store (20 million VND), Viet Son Consulting and Construction Company Limited, Thien Phu NT Construction Company Limited, Hoang Quan Electrical Construction Consulting Company and benefactors and readers of Lao Dong Newspaper.
