On the morning of January 6, in Hanoi, the authorities continued to take strong action against acts and groups of acts that cause traffic jams and accidents, such as running red lights, driving in the wrong direction, etc.
Regarding traffic situation, on some roads with high traffic density, such as: Xa Dan, O Cho Dua, Giai Phong, Khuat Duy Tien, Lang, Pham Hung,... although there is still congestion, the situation of people jostling, stopping beyond the line and running red lights,... has decreased significantly.
At the Xa Dan - O Cho Dua intersection (O Cho Dua intersection), Special Task Force No. 1 (Hanoi City Police) and other forces organized traffic flow and regulation, and strictly handled violations.
Even though it was the first morning of the week, traffic was very heavy, however, the vast majority of traffic participants complied with the regulations, stopped properly at the stop line, and strictly followed the traffic light signals.
However, there are still some cases of lack of awareness and intentional violations.
At around 2 a.m. on January 6, Special Task Force No. 1 detected and handled 12 violations, focusing on errors such as running red lights, not obeying stop lines, carrying bulky goods... Notably, 4 violations were technology-based motorbike taxis.
"The violators all gave reasons such as being in a hurry to go to work and were aware of the law and the penalty. There was a case of running a red light and honestly said that they did not think the traffic police would handle it so harshly, so they were subjective.
For the act of running a red light, the driver will be fined from 4-6 million VND and will have points deducted from his driving license," Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hai - Special Task Force No.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hai, in addition to strictly handling violations, the Working Group also strengthens propaganda and guidance so that people can better understand the new regulations. The application of increased fines not only serves as a deterrent, but also gradually raises the awareness of traffic participants.
The leader of the Hanoi Traffic Police Department said that in the coming time, along with increasing the handling of violations, the Traffic Police force will step up patrolling, controlling and implementing many propaganda activities to raise people's awareness of obeying the Traffic Law.
These synchronous measures not only aim to reduce traffic accidents, but also aim to build a safe and civilized traffic environment.
According to data from the Hanoi Traffic Police Department, from January 1, 2025 to January 4, 2025, the Traffic Police force of the entire city handled more than 3,300 violations; fined more than VND 8.5 billion; detained 983 vehicles; revoked 102 driving licenses; deducted driving license points from 350 cases,...
The main violations include: 150 cases of not obeying traffic lights; 107 cases of entering prohibited roads or going the wrong way; 479 cases of stopping and parking in violation of regulations; more than 1,100 cases of helmet-related violations; 690 cases of alcohol concentration violations...
