Storm No. 3 has passed, but many families are still suffering pain and loss after the storm, including the family of teacher Nguyen Van Hung (Hiep An ward, Kinh Mon town, Hai Duong province) - a devoted teacher of Kinh Mon II High School, Hai Duong.
It took more than a day for Lao Dong reporters to be able to talk to Ms. Luong Thi Thanh - teacher Hung's wife, because currently, she is running around everywhere to take care of and pay for her husband's treatment.
Ms. Thanh recounted that on September 7, 2024, during storm No. 3, an iron bar from the neighbor's roof flipped over and flew into her husband's head, causing a very serious head injury. The unfortunate accident caused teacher Hung to suffer a traumatic brain injury, broken bones, and a collapsed lung.
The family immediately took teacher Hung to Kinh Mon General Hospital for emergency treatment. Later, due to treatment requirements, teacher Hung was transferred to Hai Duong General Hospital, Hai Duong Military Hospital 7, and then to Viet Duc Hospital that same day.
Since then, teacher Hung has remained in a coma, undergoing difficult treatment every day, with treatment costs up to 700 million VND.
“My husband is a teacher, I am also a kindergarten teacher. Our income is just enough for food and clothing, now that he has had an accident and is still unconscious, I don’t know what to do,” Ms. Thanh shared, choking with emotion.
Currently, Mr. Hung is being treated at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital (Hanoi). Nearly two months since the accident, the expensive treatment has exhausted Ms. Thanh's family both physically and mentally.
At this time, the family is hoping to receive help from the community and kind hearts to overcome this difficult period.
Mr. Le Bich - Head of Luu Thuong 2 residential area, Hiep An ward, where Mr. Nguyen Van Hung's family lives, said that Mr. Hung and his wife are both civil servants, and their family is cultured and disciplined. Mr. Hung is also an enthusiastic person, often helping neighbors.
