According to initial information, at around 1 p.m., the fire broke out from a level four house with corrugated iron roof, wooden walls and concrete, in an alley on Tran Dinh Xu Street, Co Giang Ward. Upon discovering the incident, people shouted to each other to try to put out the fire but were unsuccessful, the fire spread to several adjacent houses.
At the scene, a column of black smoke rose high, covering the area, the heat radiating caused many people in the area to quickly evacuate.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of District 1 Police arrived at the scene to put out the fire. The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police also dispatched many specialized vehicles and many soldiers to the scene to support the response.
The area where the fire broke out had only one very narrow entrance, making it difficult for authorities to reach the scene. At this point, the police rescued many people and guided others to safety.
By 2:15 p.m., the fire was under control. Police are actively cooling the scene to assist in the investigation of the fire.
