There are pains that one person can hardly bear alone, there are journeys that an individual cannot overcome on their own. When illness strikes, the pain not only stops at the body but also becomes a burden on the shoulders of an entire family. For poor families, the journey of fighting illness becomes even more arduous when they have to both worry about treatment and find ways to maintain daily life.
The situation of Ms. Bui Thi The (born in 1991), in Vien Chu village, An Thanh commune (Hai Phong city) is such a case. She has cancer of the uterus with bone metastases. After many years of treatment, her body is no longer qualified to receive chemicals.
Throughout 6 years of fighting illness, Ms. The does not remember how many times she has had to go into radiation therapy to save her life. Prolonged treatments and medications have left many serious sequelae.
In her 30s, she looks much older than her real age. Her body is swollen, her health is depleted, making walking difficult, and every step is slow and unsteady.
The terrible disease makes her life increasingly fragile. Her life at this time is like a flickering lamp in the wind.
Besides physical pain, there is constant worry about the family. Her husband, Mr. Pham Van Cong (born in 1989), works as a freelancer. Unfortunately, he also suffers from dermatitis (albinism), so his health is weak. However, he still has to try to do any job he can to earn income, while taking care of his wife and raising two young children.

For many years, to treat his wife, the family had to borrow money everywhere. Accumulated debts are increasing while precarious income makes life even more difficult. Every day that passes, Mr. Cong has to both worry about making money and taking care of his seriously ill wife, and shoulder the responsibility of raising two children of school age.
For Ms. The, what worries her the most is not the pain caused by illness, but when looking at her husband and two young children. The children are at the age of eating and growing up, needing mother's care and love. However, illness makes her gradually exhausted, no longer having enough health to fulfill her role in the family.
Every day for her is a tiring battle with prolonged pain. Looking towards the future ahead, she only sees a gloomy gray color. Tears silently fall when thinking about her husband and children and the road ahead is still too difficult.
Faced with the particularly difficult circumstances of Ms. The's family, the An Thanh Commune Youth Union stood up to call on organizations, individuals and kind hearts to join hands to help. The biggest wish is to be able to partially support living and treatment costs, helping Ms. The's family reduce the burden in the difficult period.
Representatives of the An Thanh Commune Youth Union said that with a sense of responsibility and transparency, all donations will be made public, accurate and handed over to Ms. Bui Thi The's family.
The sharing, no matter how small, can become a great source of encouragement to help her family have more strength to continue to overcome the difficult days ahead.
