Born in 1993, Mr. Nguyen Van Co (residing in Son Thanh commune, Dak Lak province) has experienced many losses in his life. His older sister, younger brother and father passed away one after another, leaving him and his mother to rely on each other to live. The life of the two mothers and children was extremely difficult. Later, Mr. Co came to Vung Tau to find a job and start a family.

His wife's parents divorced, so after getting married, he and his wife welcomed his mother-in-law to live with them, all three crowded in a small rented room. He works in an industrial park, his wife works at a hotel. Despite modest income, he and his wife still save money to have enough to eat and spend, building a simple but stable life.
A small joy came to the family when the couple welcomed their first daughter. Not long after, his wife became pregnant for the second time.
However, disaster struck at the end of 2024. When his wife was 6 months pregnant, Mr. Co unfortunately had a traffic accident, colliding with a truck on the way home.
The accident caused him to suffer a series of serious injuries including pleural effusion, ruptured liver, broken ribs, clavicle, lower head bone and radius, along with many wounds to the shoulder and arm nerves, requiring emergency surgery.
Although he survived, he lay in a coma for several months before waking up, and at the same time left serious sequelae: his right hand was completely paralyzed, his right leg was weak, his health deteriorated, and he was no longer able to work.

My family is classified as a poor household. At the time I had the accident, my wife was pregnant, so difficulties piled up. In June 2025, my wife gave birth to my second daughter. Because I didn't want to become a burden for my wife and children, I decided to return to my hometown to live. Many times I feel very sorry for myself, but thinking about my children, I have more motivation," Mr. Co shared with a sad voice.
Currently, he lives alone in a rough house left by his father. Looking around, there is nothing of value, and there is no toilet either, so he has to stay with neighbors. His mother sells lottery tickets in Can Gio, Ho Chi Minh City, so all daily activities he has to manage on his own. Every few weeks, his mother sends 50,000 - 200,000 VND to ask relatives to buy him food.

Life is lacking in every way, my health is weak due to traffic accidents, but luckily I am still alive. I hope to receive help from everyone so that I can cover my life, raise young children and overcome the difficult days ahead," Mr. Co choked up.
The head of Lac My village (Son Thanh commune, Dak Lak province), Mr. Nguyen Khach Suu, shared: "Co's family is very poor. Before, he went to work in Vung Tau, but after the accident, he couldn't work anymore, so he returned to his hometown to live. His mother sold lottery tickets to support him. I also hope philanthropists can help him reduce his hardship.
