Cutting off both legs
On January 20, 2026, Ho Thi Huong, a student of class 11C8, Dong Hieu High School (Nghe An province) on her way to school unfortunately had a serious traffic accident. The accident took the female student's legs when she was at the most beautiful age of her student life.
According to the family, Huong was very seriously injured, had both legs amputated and a broken arm. She was taken to the emergency room and underwent many major surgeries to save her life.
As soon as the incident happened, teachers and students of Dong Hieu High School could not hold back their sorrow and promptly came to encourage and support the family to take her for treatment. During the days Huong was lying in the hospital bed, the words of concern and sharing from teachers and friends became a great source of encouragement for her and her family to try to overcome the difficult period.
Currently, Huong is being treated at Le Huu Trac National Burn Hospital (Hanoi). Previously, she had undergone many surgeries at Viet Duc Hospital and National Burn Hospital to treat serious injuries.
Although she has passed the critical condition, Huong still has a long journey of treatment ahead. The huge losses at the age of 17 make the female student face pain both physically and mentally.
Faced with his situation, Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong - Principal of Dong Hieu High School and the school collective organized a donation, donating the amount of 113,470,000 VND donated by officials, teachers, students and parents to help his family overcome some immediate difficulties.
On the afternoon of March 6, the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An province also directly visited the National Burn Hospital to visit and encourage him and his family.
Need help
Sharing with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Chu Thi Hai (47 years old, Nghia Loc commune, Nghe An province), Huong's mother, said that the family mainly lives by farming, while Huong's father works as a construction worker with unstable jobs and unstable incomes.
When the child had such a serious accident, both husband and wife had to put aside their work to go to Hanoi to take care of the child. The prolonged treatment time has increased living expenses and hospital fees, while the family's income is almost gone," Ms. Hai choked up.
After many surgeries, Huong's health gradually stabilized. However, losing her legs at a very young age was a huge shock. The days lying in the hospital bed, what made Huong most regretful was not physical pain but the longing for school and friends.
It is known that after many major surgeries, Huong's health has gradually stabilized, but she still needs to continue long-term treatment. Before the unexpected event, Huong still always receives encouragement from teachers, friends and many people around. The words of concern and sharing have added strength for the 11th grade female student to try to overcome the difficult period.
According to the local education sector, the school will continue to call on organizations, individuals, and philanthropists to join hands to support Ho Thi Huong to have more conditions for treatment, health recovery and early mental stabilization.
The community's care and sharing not only helps the family reduce the burden but is also a great source of encouragement, helping the female student from Nghe An have more faith to continue her treatment journey and nurture her dream of returning to school in the future.
