Life changes after an accident
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tien, residing in Khanh Hung commune (Tay Ninh province), before the accident, Mr. Tien was a worker at Minh Khoi Joint Stock Company, with work and income to cover living expenses.
At the end of 2024, while working, Mr. Tien had a work accident. Treatment records at Tan Tao University Medical Hospital show that he suffered fractures of ribs 5, 6, 7 on the left side and soft tissue injury in the abdomen.
After that, Mr. Tien continued to be treated at Cho Ray Hospital. Hospital records recorded that he had to be treated for post-operative complications related to the bile ducts and abdominal damage.
The months of hospitalization and treatment disrupted the young man's life. Unfinished work, health is no longer as before.
According to the conclusion of the Tay Ninh Provincial Medical Examination Council on July 17, 2025, Mr. Tien was determined to have reduced working capacity with a body injury rate of 72%.
The examination records also recorded many spinal-related injuries, including spinal spur fracture D1, horizontal spur fracture D12, L1, L2, L3, L4 and some other injuries. Mr. Tien was monitored for stage 2 kidney disease and had a history of kidney infarction.
Hoping one day to be able to take care of myself
After the accident, the biggest difficulty for Mr. Tien is not only the health sequelae but also the inability to continue working as before.
Currently, I still live with my parents because the accident affected my spine, so I haven't been able to work yet," Mr. Tien shared.
At the age of 25, instead of having a stable job and taking care of his own life, Mr. Tien currently has to rely heavily on his family. His father is a farmer, his mother is a housewife, while his younger brother is serving in the military, the family circumstances are not well-off, so Mr. Tien's loss of working ability makes life even more difficult.
However, Tien still tries to find a direction that suits his current health. He has just finished his driving license and hopes to be able to do a lighter job later, without affecting the injuries he is carrying.
I just finished my driving license. It's still new so I haven't been able to drive much," Mr. Tien said.
What Mr. Tien wants at this time is simply to gradually stabilize his health so that he can start working again, take care of himself and help his parents.
After the incident, the path ahead for the 25-year-old boy is still difficult. With a body injury rate of 72%, finding a job suitable for his health is not easy. But Mr. Tien still wants to work within his ability, instead of becoming a burden to his family.
An accident took away the health and work of a young person. Now, what Mr. Tien needs most is an opportunity to gradually stabilize his life, recover his health and regain self-control after the incident.
