Lao Dong Newspaper speaks out, Trade Union gets involved, workers' rights are guaranteed
With the characteristic of being a locality with many industrial zones and clusters, Ninh Binh has a large number of workers working in manufacturing, garment, footwear, mechanical, and construction materials enterprises... Most workers have limited incomes, and their lives mainly depend on monthly salaries. The situation of salary and social insurance debts of employees not only occurs in non-state units and enterprises but also appears in some public units in Ninh Binh province. Typical examples include the case of salary and social insurance debts of 69 officials, civil servants, and employees working at the Cultural Center, under the Ninh Binh Provincial Department of Culture and Sports. The incident occurred in 2022 and lasted for more than 3 months, causing many difficulties for employees here.
After a series of articles reflecting Lao Dong Newspaper, Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee issued a document assigning the Department of Culture and Sports to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Home Affairs, Department of Finance, Provincial Labor Federation and related units to review and overcome the situation of salary and social insurance debts and have a plan to pay salaries to employees working at the Provincial Cultural Center. In less than a month, the Ninh Binh Provincial Cultural Center has allocated sufficient resources and paid all salary debts, allowances and social insurance debts for the above 69 workers.

Similarly, at the old Nho Quan District General Hospital, nearly 200 officials and employees here were owed salaries for many consecutive months, causing many difficulties in life. After Lao Dong Newspaper intervened to reflect, along with the active involvement of the Trade Union organization, Ninh Binh Provincial Department of Health held a meeting, directing professional departments to coordinate with relevant units to urgently review and find measures to remove difficulties at Nho Quan District General Hospital to soon pay salaries to officials and employees here.
Only four days after Lao Dong Newspaper reported, along with drastic direction from the Ninh Binh Provincial Department of Health, all officials and employees at Nho Quan District General Hospital were fully paid the owed salary, with a total amount of more than 3.4 billion VND.
In addition to typical cases as above, in the past time, Lao Dong Newspaper has accompanied the Ninh Binh Trade Union organization in participating in protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers in the province. Some collective work stoppages of workers, after being reflected in Lao Dong Newspaper, along with the close and timely involvement of the Trade Union organization, have been quickly resolved, and the rights of workers have been ensured. Thereby, contributing to building harmonious and stable labor relations in units and businesses.
A bridge of compassion to care for workers in difficult circumstances
In Ninh Binh, the coordination between Lao Dong Newspaper and trade union organizations at all levels in the past time has contributed to spreading the spirit of sharing and community responsibility towards union members and workers. Through articles in the Golden Heart section on Lao Dong Newspaper, many unfortunate workers' circumstances have been reflected truthfully and humanely, thereby receiving the attention and support of Lao Dong Newspaper readers nationwide.
From that reality, the Trade Union organization in Ninh Binh has promoted its role in grasping the grassroots situation, reviewing and detecting cases of union members and workers in particularly difficult circumstances. Many cases after being verified and connected by grassroots trade unions (CĐCS), trade unions of communes and wards have been reflected by Lao Dong Newspaper in the Golden Heart column.

A valuable point in this coordination is that each article not only stops at telling about a difficult situation, but also clarifies the journey of overcoming adversity of workers, the concern of the Trade Union and the need for practical support. Those stories are conveyed with a humane spirit, respecting characters, avoiding tragedy but enough to move readers.
After the articles were published, many readers of Lao Dong Newspaper actively contacted and supported through the Golden Heart Charity Fund or receiving channels according to the newspaper's instructions. Some people donated tens of thousands of VND, hundreds of thousands of VND; some collectives, businesses, and philanthropists sent larger amounts of money. Although material values vary, each sharing has great motivational meaning for workers who are in the most difficult times.
Support from readers is then coordinated by Lao Dong Newspaper with the Trade Union organization to hand over to cases in need of help. This is not only support for treatment costs, medicine, living expenses, and tuition fees for workers' children, but also a warm message that they are not alone in hardship.
For many workers who have accidents, are seriously ill or temporarily lose their ability to work, the money donated by readers has helped their families have more conditions to cover hospital fees, recover their health, and maintain their lives. For families with young children, that support also helps them continue to go to school, reducing the burden on their parents in difficult days.
Not only carrying the meaning of immediate relief, the companionship between Lao Dong Newspaper and the Trade Union organization in Ninh Binh has created a practical coordination mechanism: Trade unions closely follow grassroots levels, promptly detect difficult circumstances; Lao Dong Newspaper spreads humane information to readers; Tam Long Vang Charity Social Fund and philanthropists join hands to support; workers are given more strength to overcome difficulties in life.
In the coming time, continuing to promote coordination between Lao Dong Newspaper and Trade Union organizations at all levels in Ninh Binh province will contribute to improving the effectiveness of caring for union members and workers. These specific and persistent actions have affirmed the role of Lao Dong Newspaper not only as a press agency of the Trade Union organization, but also as a bridge of compassion between workers in difficult circumstances and the community. From the articles in the Golden Heart column, human kindness is spread, trust is nurtured and the spirit of "not letting union members and workers in difficult circumstances be left behind" continues to be realized by practical actions.
