Through articles in the Life Situation section of Lao Dong Newspaper, many difficult circumstances in the province have received the joint efforts of readers nationwide, adding hope to overcome adversity and rise up in life.

Lives energized by reading friendship

From the articles in the Life Story section, Lao Dong Newspaper and the Golden Heart Charity Social Fund have become a bridge to bring the sharing of readers to many difficult circumstances.

Many families who thought they were in a deadlock have had more conditions to treat diseases, stabilize their lives and nurture hope for the future. One of the cases that received timely companionship is Le Thi Thao Trang (12 years old, Quoi An commune), a character reflected by Lao Dong Newspaper at the end of November 2025. At that time, she had to bring an artificial anus to class due to colorectal cancer, while her mother died early and her father was an unstable hired worker.

From the article, a large number of readers nationwide joined hands to support. On February 10, representatives of Vinh Long Provincial Trade Union, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters and local authorities presented 292 million VND donated by readers, helping her family have more conditions to treat the disease and stabilize their lives.

Thanks to timely treatment from the support of readers nationwide, her artificial anus was operated on and brought back to a normal body, making living and studying more convenient. Mr. Le Van Quoc - Thao Trang's father said that the family was extremely touched by the sharing of Lao Dong Newspaper, Tam Long Vang Charity Social Fund and philanthropists. Immediately after receiving the support money, the family deposited it in savings, only withdrawing it for the treatment of her child's illness, and the rest was saved for her future later.

Not only Thao Trang, two children Vo Thien Nhan and Vo Minh Khue in Giong Trom commune also received the attention of readers after being reflected in Lao Dong Newspaper. Orphaned of parents due to traffic accidents and serious illnesses, the two children currently live with their elderly grandparents. After the article was published, the family received more than 12 million VND and many gifts from philanthropists. Mr. Nguyen Van Tam (born 1961), the grandfather of the two children, said that many people called to inquire, support money and necessities to help the family alleviate difficulties. Despite their old age, the grandparents still try to work as hired laborers, taking care of the vegetable garden behind the house to have more income, determined to let the two children continue to go to school.

Spreading human values for the community

In Vinh Long, there are still many difficult circumstances due to illness, accidents, and loss of working capacity that require the joint efforts of the community. From information from people and mass organizations, reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper directly recorded the reality, connecting support resources. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy - Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Quoi An commune - many cases introduced to Lao Dong Newspaper have received from a few million to tens of millions of VND from readers, especially Le Thi Thao Trang received nearly 300 million VND. This support not only helps reduce immediate difficulties but also adds faith for families to overcome adversity.

Assessing these meaningful activities, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuan Thanh - Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Long province said that Lao Dong Newspaper and the Golden Heart Charity Fund have made many practical contributions in social security work nationwide in general and in Vinh Long in particular. This is a very commendable activity as it has become an effective bridge between difficult circumstances and philanthropists.

According to Ms. Thanh, the province is currently implementing many support resources through the Fund for the Poor, the Relief Fund, the Social Security Fund and many other care programs for workers, poor households, near-poor households and unexpected difficult cases. However, the companionship of press agencies, especially Lao Dong Newspaper and the Golden Heart Charity Fund, has contributed to strongly spreading the spirit of mutual affection in the community.

Hopefully in the coming time, the Fatherland Front at all levels, local authorities, and socio-political organizations will continue to coordinate with Lao Dong Newspaper in informing and spreading humane activities, thereby mobilizing more social resources to care for people in difficult circumstances, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction and leaving no one behind" - Ms. Thanh shared.
