Over the past two decades, most of the major tennis titles have been dominated by the Big Four, including Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray.
At the moment, only Djokovic is still playing professional tennis at the age of 38, but he has not maintained his previous form.
Sharing about the peak period of the Big Four, Djokovic said: "With dominance, like Nadal on clay, Roger on the pitch, I am a hard-working player.
Sometimes we win tournaments for 3-4 consecutive years. I started to have high achievements from 23-24 onwards, but now Carlos Alcaraz is less than 23 years old."
The Serbian legend praised the talent of the young star born in 2003.
"We have to remember that what Alcaraz did at his age was not normal. We will definitely see him on big pitches with the championship trophy in the future, maybe 10 years, 15 years, as long as he is still playing.
Competition always exists. I think each generation has a different competition. It is difficult to compare the stages. Over the past 20 years, it has been dominated by the four of us, but when my three opponents retired, there was a change, the attention was still on them."
I guess it will take some time for people to accept the fact that Roger, Rafa, Murray are no longer playing, and I think one day I will be myself, but I will still try to stay there and represent my generation, the older players. Hopefully that will bring a positive effect to the tournaments, he added.
Djokovic shared his happiness when the number of spectators coming to watch tennis tournaments has continuously broken records in recent times. Although many big stars have retired, the attraction of the sport and the love of fans have not been affected.
Its like that, this sport has to last forever for everyone, and will last forever for the time. Tennis is more important than any individual. So we are all here to serve this sport," Djokovic affirmed.
