Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz will face each other for the first time at the Australian Open.

Novak Djokovic defeated seed number 24 Jiri Lehecka with a score of 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(4) at Rod Laver Arena on the afternoon of January 19 (Vietnam time). Thereby, the Serbian tennis player won a ticket to the quarter-finals of the 2025 Australian Open, facing Carlos Alcaraz.

At the same time, this result also helped Djokovic equal Roger Federer's record when reaching the men's singles quarter-finals 15 times in a major tournament on hard courts.

In the match against Lehecka, the 10-time Australian Open champion had a comprehensive performance to easily win in 2 hours and 39 minutes.

Like in round 3 against Tomas Machac, the 37-year-old star hit solidly from the back to overwhelm Lehecka, especially at key moments. According to Infosys Stats, the Serbian made only 21 fouls in self-defection in the match, compared to 44 fouls by his opponents.

Lehecka played quite well in the first set but made many ball passing errors in set 2, giving Djokovic the advantage. He has shown that he is still maintaining his top form, even at the age of 37.

With this victory, Djokovic will have his first hard-fought encounter with Alcaraz at the Grand Slam. The Spanish star defeated Jack Draper with a score of 7-5, 6-1 in round 4 (the opponent gave up).

Djokovic is currently on a 4-3 head-to-head record against Alcaraz. But Alcaraz has won two of his three major tournaments.
