Djokovic and many famous tennis players withdraw from Miami Open 2026

The Miami Open 2026 tennis tournament does not have the participation of Novak Djokovic and many famous tennis players in the world.

In the men's singles, some absences were predicted in advance. Danish player Holger Rune is still recovering from his Achilles tendon injury from last year. This player has not played since October 2025, so his absence from this year's Miami Open is not surprising.

Meanwhile, Dutch tennis player Tallon Griekspoor also had to withdraw due to a hamstring injury. He had physical problems after the semi-final match at the Dubai Tennis Championships 2026 against Andrey Rublev. After that, Griekspoor was forced to retire in the match against Daniil Medvedev and was said to have not reached the best physical condition to compete in an ATP Masters 1000 tournament such as the Miami Open.

In addition, some other notable players also confirmed that they would not participate in the tournament, including Jaume Munar, Lorenzo Sonego and young Chinese talent Shang Juncheng.

However, the most notable absence belongs to Novak Djokovic - the defending runner-up of the tournament. According to the announcement from the organizers, the Serbian player withdrew due to a right shoulder injury.

Previously, Djokovic still played at the Indian Wells Open and went through a three-set match with Jack Draper. Although he did not have a clear problem in the match, the injury was said to have appeared later, preventing him from continuing to participate in this year's Miami Open.

In the women's singles, the withdrawal list also includes many notable players. Grand Slam champions including Emma Raducanu, Marketa Vondrousova and Barbora Krejcikova could not participate due to fitness issues.

In addition, familiar players such as former world No. 1 Karolina Pliskova, Daria Kasatkina, Veronika Kudermetova and young players such as Maya Joint and Sonay Kartal are also absent.

Despite the absence of many big names, Miami Open 2026 is still expected to bring exciting matches with the participation of top stars. Notably, the defending men's singles champion Jakub Mensik and the women's singles champion Aryna Sabalenka, alongside top players such as Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, Elena Rybakina and Iga Swiatek.
