Airbus' profit in the first 6 months of the year increased by 47%, while revenue increased by 12% compared to the same period last year.

According to AFP, European aerospace corporation Airbus said on July 29 (local time) that net profit in the first 6 months of the year increased by 47% thanks to boosting commercial aircraft delivery and revenue from the defense segment continued to grow.

Airbus's net profit reached 2.2 billion euros (about 2.5 billion USD), while revenue increased by 12% compared to the same period last year to 33.2 billion euros (about 38 billion USD).

Revenue from the defense and space sector increased by 17% compared to the same period last year, reaching 5.8 billion euros (about 6.6 billion USD).

In a statement, Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury said that positive business results in the first half of this year are mainly thanks to the increase in the number of commercial aircraft delivered, along with the strong growth of the defense and space segments, in the context that the business environment is still developing in a complex and rapidly changing manner.

In the first 6 months of the year, Airbus delivered 351 commercial aircraft to customers, compared to 306 aircraft in the same period last year.

Airbus said that the group is still striving to accelerate production after having to cut capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this process still faces many obstacles due to difficulties in the supply chain, especially from suppliers.

According to Airbus, the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the war in the Middle East have caused many countries to increase defense spending, thereby contributing to promoting the growth momentum of the defense and space sectors.
