The UK will participate in Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024 with a dedicated display space highlighting the strengths, innovation and capabilities of the UK defence industry.
This landmark event is a testament to the UK’s commitment to strengthening defence cooperation with Vietnam, thereby contributing to building an open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region with opportunities for all.
The UK Pavilion aims to be a platform to promote advanced and innovative technologies, while supporting Vietnam’s ambition to modernise its armed forces by 2030 as outlined in Vietnam’s Defence White Paper.
Key objectives include highlighting the UK’s commitment to defence innovation, enhancing opportunities for collaboration with Vietnamese commercial companies and addressing shared security challenges.
The exhibition space will feature prominent brands including BAE Systems, alongside SMEs such as Smytec, Instro, Viasat and Spectra, providing a glimpse into the cutting-edge capabilities across a range of sectors within the UK defence industry.
On 20 December 2024, the British Embassy in Hanoi will host a defence industry seminar to showcase UK expertise and ways to support Vietnam’s defence industry modernisation efforts.
Attending the exhibition, British Trade Commissioner for Asia Pacific, Mr. Martin Kent said: “The Vietnam International Defence Exhibition is a great opportunity to showcase the UK’s strengths in the defence and security sector, as well as how it can support Vietnam’s goal of modernising its armed forces by 2030. We value the partnership between the UK and Vietnam, as well as the Asia-Pacific region, and the UK Government has stressed that security and prosperity in this region are important to us. Through the Exhibition, we affirm our commitment to creating opportunities for cooperation between British businesses and stakeholders in Vietnam, helping them find new partners and share their expertise.”
