On September 11, responding to the call of General Secretary, President To Lam and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son launched a campaign for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in the Ministry, Vietnamese representative agencies and overseas Vietnamese to support compatriots affected by storm No. 3.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said that storm No. 3 (internationally known as storm Yagi) with very strong intensity has swept into the northern provinces of our country, causing heavy damage to people and property.
The Party and State leaders have given strong instructions in preventing, evacuating, rescuing people, and overcoming the consequences of the storm. All levels, sectors, armed forces and local authorities have closely followed the situation, thoroughly mobilized the "4 on-site", introduced many urgent measures to overcome the damage, restore the infrastructure system, and support people to restore production and life.
Implementing the direction of the Government leaders, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also discussed with the Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi about the two sides' close coordination in flood prevention and overcoming the consequences caused by Typhoon Yagi.
At the same time, Vietnamese representative agencies in China have urgently worked with the host country's agencies; sent a diplomatic note requesting China to strictly control the amount of water flowing from the upper reaches of the Red River to the lower reaches, coordinate with functional agencies to reduce or close the discharge gates at upstream hydroelectric dams and promptly notify specific information on the time of flood discharge, duration and discharge volume, thereby minimizing damage caused by floods in the river basins in the Northern region.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, Minister Bui Thanh Son called on cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in the Ministry, Vietnamese representative agencies and overseas Vietnamese to share and provide spiritual and material support to join hands to support people in the affected areas.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, the Minister calls on all cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of the Ministry to donate at least one day's salary to support our compatriots; focus on implementing and completing this meaningful donation within the next 10 days.
For our representative agencies abroad, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government and the Minister requested that they promptly inform and organize fundraising activities to meet the expectations of overseas Vietnamese who wholeheartedly turn to the Fatherland. The amount of money raised should be quickly counted and sent back to the country to promptly deliver to people in the affected areas.
Right at the launching ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, Minister Bui Thanh Son and leaders of the Ministry, units and individuals at the Ministry Headquarters No. 1 Ton That Dam and Office No. 2 Le Quang Dao conducted donations for people affected by storm No. 3.
