The terrorist attack in the town of Cambrils, Spain, occurred right after a man drove a truck through a crowd in Barcelona, Spain on the afternoon of August 17, killing 13 people and injuring more than 100 others.
The attack in Cambrils occurred in a similar way, an Audi A3 carrying 5 attackers strolled along Promenade beach, Cambrils stabbed 4 people. The car then crashed into a police car at an intersection and overturned, La Vanguardia reported.
The terrorists got out of the car wearing detonators, used knives and machetes to stab the pedestrians.
According to RT, at the scene, 2 police officers were in the service vehicle but one person was injured in the head and legs due to the collision. Therefore, the remaining police force was forced to fight alone against the 5 terrorists. The brave police shot and killed 4 of the 5 attackers.
The video of police shooting down a terrorist published by La Vanguardia is shocking public opinion. In the video, the attackers mocked the police and shouted: "Allahu akbar". This person ignored the police's call to surrender. After the first shots, the suspect fell down but quickly stood up and continued to walk until he was shot down.
The names of the brave police officer who killed the four terrorists have not been disclosed. According to La Vanguardia, psychologists took care of the police officer after the incident.
The fifth suspect escaped after injuring a woman (who had died in the hospital), who was later killed by the police.
Police have identified all five terrorists as dead in Cambrils, but it is uncertain whether one of them was the truck driver who caused the previous Barcelona shocking attack.
Three speakers of Morocco and one Spaniard have been arrested in connection with car crash attacks in Catalonia. Police said a terrorist group of at least 12 elements were preparing for a larger bomb attack. Of the remaining three suspects identified, two may have been killed in the Alcanar blast on the evening of August 16, and at least one is Younes Abouyaaqoub, a 22-year-old man who has yet to be arrested.
