According to the Government Newspaper, Party Central Committee member and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung congratulated the 30-year journey of formation and development of the Asia Future Conference, emphasizing that this is a leading prestigious policy forum in the region. The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated this year's theme: "aches of Asia in a volatile world", and emphasized that challenges are opportunities to create breakthrough ideas and methods.
The Deputy Prime Minister pointed out 5 major challenging trends.
First, increasing uncertainty due to geopolitical fluctuations, strategic competition, climate change, epidemics and new technology are reshaping the global economic structure.
Second, economic segmentation causes traditional growth drivers to decline, negatively affecting the prospects of economies.
Third, strategic competition undermine confidence and limit the effectiveness of multilateral cooperation mechanisms.
Fourth, the position of the global governance system is eroding, international principles are being challenged by nationalism.
Fifth, many factors are hindering the trend of sustainable and inclusive development, especially non-traditional security challenges.
From there, the Deputy Prime Minister asked: "Which will be the fulcrum for Asia in the new development period?". He pointed out 3 main factors: Asia continues to be a region of dynamic growth, the cradle of human civilization and a convergence point of industry - production; at the same time, a region of peace and stability.
Citing the Japanese saying "Fall 7 times, get up 8 times", the Deputy Prime Minister said that after each major crisis, Asia has overcome strongly. Vietnam proposed 5 pioneering directions that Asian countries need to promote: (1) Re revitalizing multilateral cooperation mechanisms, strengthening free trade; (2) Promoting science and technology, digital transformation; (3) Inclusive development, taking people as the center; (4) Creating a new economic model, especially green and digital transformation; (5) Strengthening solidarity, cooperation, and mutual respect.
Also on the morning of May 30, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung and the Government working delegation attended "Vietnam Digital Transformation Day 2025" in Tokyo, Japan. The Deputy Prime Minister said that Vietnam strategically considers science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as the "golden key", a vital factor to overcome the middle-income trap and the risk of falling behind, realizing the nation's strong and prosperous aspirations.
Regarding the Vietnam - Japan relationship, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the relationship has gone through more than half a century with extensive and effective cooperation imprints, in which cooperation in science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation continues to be an important pillar.
Japan is one of Vietnam's leading partners in the high-tech sector, with a series of cooperation projects in information technology, artificial intelligence, big data, semiconductors and green transformation. Vietnam has more than 70 enterprises and 5,000 IT engineers active in Japan, contributing to the development of Japan's technology and innovation ecosystem.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the combination of young and creative human resources of Vietnam and technology and experience of Japan will create combined strength, bringing great benefits to both countries.
Responding to the spirit of "Vietnam Digital Transformation Day 2025 in Japan", the Deputy Prime Minister called on all leaders, businesses, scientists, to the Japanese people, and the Vietnamese community in Japan to work together to create a new momentum, a new wave in the fields of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation between the two countries.
