About 1,200 tourists were evacuated on December 24 from the Eiffel Tower - the symbol of Paris - after information about a fire in one of the elevator shafts between the first and second floors of the tower.
According to Euronews, the fire was caused by one of the elevator cables overheating at around 10:30 a.m. The fire at the Eiffel Tower is now under control.
Access to the Eiffel Tower was also affected by the fire. The site has since reopened.
The Eiffel Tower is a popular tourist attraction and one of the most famous structures in the world. An average of 15,000 to 25,000 visitors visit the iconic Parisian tower every day.
The Eiffel Tower fire comes as the French capital is still haunted by the horrific blaze that nearly destroyed another famous landmark, Notre Dame Cathedral, in 2019.
After a devastating fire, Notre Dame Cathedral - a Gothic masterpiece - was closed for five years and only reopened to the public earlier this month.
