According to information from the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela concurrently in charge of Colombia, on the morning of August 10 (local time), an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 occurred with the epicenter in Choco province (about 313km west of the capital Bogota), causing heavy damage to the capital Bogota, central and western cities such as Medellin, Cali, Pereira and Manizales.
Right on the morning of August 10 (local time), the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela concurrently in charge of Colombia contacted the Vietnamese Community in Colombia to grasp the situation.
As of the afternoon of August 10 (local time), the entire Vietnamese community in the area was safe. The Embassy immediately implemented necessary citizen protection measures to ensure security and safety for citizens according to regulations.
