Mr. Tang Shiguo, 61 years old, a ferry driver on the Tuong Giang River in Quy Duong Town, Hoanh Duong, Hunan Lake.
Over the past 35 years, he has saved 24 people from drowning. In the video made by China Daily, Mr. Tang received many certificates of merit for his good deeds.
"My goal is to see all visitors to the river safe and healthy. I carry passengers across the river safely and ensure the safety of swimmers" - he said.
drowning accidents on rivers occur due to the increase in the number of swimmers and tourists.
To fulfill his commitment, Mr. Tang lived in a hut along the river for many years even though his son suggested that he move to live together in the city.
