News Sky reported that John Bream, 34 years old, is a former parachute soldier nicknamed the Flight Fish, from Havant town, Hampshire county, UK.
Bream is believed to have jumped freely into the sea from a helicopter at an altitude of about 40m from the water surface. However, the jump landed awkwardly as Bream hit his head and passed out for a short time.
It is believed that he fell for about 3 to 4 seconds before receiving water at a speed of 128 km/h.
Divers tried to approach and rescue Bream off the Isle of Hayling, near Portsmouth. Fortunately, he later regained consciousness and was able to waver his hand while sitting on a rescue boat, even walking and talking to medical staff on the way to the hospital.
It is known that Mr. Bream is raising funds and raising public awareness for two charitable organizations ''All Call Signs''' and ''Support Our paras'' - specializing in providing mental health support for veterans.
Bream's free jump aims to set a new world record for free jumping from a helicopter into water at the highest altitude. However, his efforts have not been confirmed by Guinness World Record.
The current world record for the highest water jumping category is 58m. This feat was done by Brazilian-Swedish track and field athlete Laso Schaller when he jumped from a cliff in Cascata del Salto, Switzerland in 2015.
On the fundraising site GoFundMe.com, Mr. Bream hopes to raise $6,500 with the jump from the helicopter he made to prove that "veteranes can still achieve brilliant form".
