The information was confirmed by Bulgarian Military, saying that the last batch of F-16 fighter jets had officially reached the hands of Ukraine.
Accompanying the transfer activities is a large-scale training program for Ukrainian pilots and technicians. Training is mainly conducted at the European F-16 Training Center located in fetesti, Romania. The center was established to prepare manpower to operate the advanced aircraft that Ukraine has received from Western countries.
The F-16 aircraft to support Ukraine was transferred under the F-16AM/BM variation, which has been upgraded through the mid-life update program. These improvements focus on aviation electronics, sensors and the ability to use weapons, helping to increase efficiency in modern combat environments.
The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single- motor multi-purpose fighter, developed by General Dynamics and currently owned by lockheed Martin. This is a prominent aircraft line thanks to its compact design with a length of about 15m and a wingspan of 9.8m, providing high mobility in aerial combat. The F-16 uses a Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-220 or General Electric F110-GE-100 engine, allowing it to reach speeds of more than Mach 2.
The Propulsion rate compared to nearly 1:1 in weight is a notable technical feature of the F-16, giving the aircraft the ability to accelerate quickly and perform complex flight operations stably. This factor makes the F-16 a formidable combat platform for both air and ground missions, especially in campaigns that require flexible response and precision attack.
