A Russian citizen working at an international airport in Sukhumi, Abkhazia was arrested on charges of collaborating with Ukrainian military intelligence and preparing to commit sabotage. This information was announced by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).
According to the FSB, the captive was a 45-year-old man who was working in the airport's technical and engineering department. The FSB accused the person of maintaining contact with the representative of the General Department of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR) and of providing information related to his work to the Ukrainian side.
The arrest was carried out in coordination with the Abkhazia Security Service. The FSB said the suspect had prepared to hand over the design drawings of Sukhumi International Airport and the nearby limited-reach parking area - used to receive high-level international delegations - to Ukrainian intelligence.
The FSB stated, This person has proactively planned to transfer the Sukhumi International Airport layout diagrams and the nearby parking area to the neighbor.
The security agency said the act was aimed at facilitating a potential sabotage attack by Ukraine. Investigations are continuing to be conducted to clarify the full scale and purpose of this District Attendant plot.
