In the context of rapidly changing the world, increasing strategic competition and increasing development requirements, the 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam is considered a milestone of profound historical and timely significance.
This assessment was shared by Mr. R. Arun Kumar - Member of the Central Committee, Head of the External Relations Committee of the Marxist Communist Party of India (CPI-M) - with the press when mentioning the stature and significance of the Congress for Vietnam's new development orientation, VNA reported.
According to Mr. R. Arun Kumar, despite many obstacles at home and abroad, the Communist Party of Vietnam has steadfastly led the country on the path of development and progress, achieving important achievements in economy and society.
On average, in the period 2021 - 2025, gross domestic product growth reached about 6.3%. The life expectancy and living standards of people have improved, the happiness index has increased significantly, bringing Vietnam into the group of 50 leading countries in the world in this index, a step that is considered very impressive.
After nearly 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi policy, Vietnam is at the threshold of a new stage of development, towards two strategic milestones: the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 2030 and the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Socialist Revolution in 2045.
In that roadmap, the 14th Congress is expected to play a key role in planning a new growth model based on science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, thereby creating a foundation for high and sustainable growth.
Assessing the new points in the draft Documents of the 14th National Congress, Mr. R. Arun Kumar said that the addition of environmental protection content in parallel with socio-economic development reflects the urgent requirements of sustainable development.
Reality in many countries shows that uncontrolled industrialization often leads to environmental pollution and degradation, especially in developing countries.
The Vietnamese Communist Party's determination that environmental protection and climate change response are priority tasks is considered a correct adjustment, demonstrating a long-term vision.
Along with that, identifying foreign affairs and international integration as key tasks, regularly associated with national defense and security, is also highly appreciated by Mr. R. Arun Kumar.
Vietnam is currently an active member of ASEAN and increasingly affirms its role and position in the international arena. With an independent, self-reliant and responsible foreign policy, Vietnam is recognized as capable of making positive contributions to cooperation and solidarity between developing countries, for common peace and stability in a volatile international context.
The document of the 14th Congress continues to emphasize the role of culture, people and the private economy in development.
According to the stated viewpoint, the private sector is an important driving force for the development of the production force, but it needs to be managed within the framework of the State's development orientation and plan.
In parallel with that, promoting Ho Chi Minh's cultural and moral values, preventing corruption and building a healthy lifestyle is considered the foundation to ensure harmonious and sustainable development of society.
In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution taking place strongly, the 14th Congress is seen as a testament to the self-renovation spirit and practical synthesis capacity of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Considering science and technology as a key driving force to develop the production force, improve the quality of life and happiness of the people shows that the development orientation takes people as the center, with commitments that are assessed as having a practical basis and high feasibility.
From an international perspective, Mr. R. Arun Kumar expressed his belief that the 14th Congress will prioritize improving people's lives, narrowing regional inequality and ensuring equitable development between regions.
With correct orientation and high political determination, Vietnam is expected to continue to make steady progress on the road to successfully implementing the set 100-year goals.
