NBC News reported that on February 5, US officials said the right wing of a Japan Airlines (Japan) crashed into the rear of the Delta Airlines (USA) right on the runway of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
According to the statement of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the collision occurred at around 10:40 a.m. (local time), when the two aircraft were moving on the ground. Delta Airlines said that the Japan Airlines wing hit the rear of their aircraft during maintenance.
The US airline said the Delta 1921 flight was a Boeing 737, carrying 142 passengers, expected to fly from Seattle to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Japan Airlines declared: “We sincerely apologize to all those involved for this inconvenience.”
Japan Airlines said that the collision flight with code JL68, with 172 passengers and 13 crew members, was moving after landing from Narita International Airport (Japan) when the right wing of the Boeing 787-9 crashed into the back of the Delta.
A video of the incident, posted on social media by a passenger present on one of two aircraft, shows that the wings of the Japan Airlines plane are stuck at the back of the Delta Airlines.

KOMO News conducted interviews with a few passengers about the incident when leaving the airport. The incident left them waiting for about 2 hours on the plane before being taken down the stairs and carried by bus to the terminal.
