7-magnitude earthquake in Japan: No Vietnamese citizens recorded casualties

At about 4:27 PM on July 28, an earthquake with a magnitude of about 7 degrees occurred in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, causing casualties and property damage in this area.

The citizen protection bulletin on the night of July 28 of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that immediately after the earthquake occurred, implementing the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese representative agencies in Japan urgently contacted local functional agencies through the International Committees of Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Oita, Miyazaki provinces as well as Vietnamese associations in the affected area to grasp the situation, ready to deploy timely protection measures for Vietnamese citizens affected by the earthquake.

So far, no information of Vietnamese citizens being injured or killed has been recorded" - the news report stated.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through Vietnamese associations, especially in Kumamoto Prefecture (Uki City and Hikawa town area, the epicenter of the earthquake), Vietnamese representative agencies in Japan have sent condolences and encouraged people to remain calm, absolutely comply with and obey the instructions of local authorities in evacuating from dangerous areas; at the same time, contact and maintain close contact with local authorities to promptly coordinate in handling issues related to Vietnamese citizens.

In the coming days, Vietnamese representative agencies in Japan will continue to closely coordinate with local functional agencies to closely monitor the developments of the situation, and maintain contact with Vietnamese associations in the region to promptly protect cases of Vietnamese citizens in distress or support urgent requests.
